SlamCMS Front-End Setup

Pre-Requisites

  1. First set up the SharePoint CMS and make sure the database is ready to be used.
  2. Be sure you have both the Solution.config and Environment.config files located in the config folder inside your solution folder

Setup

  1. Edit the web.config file and change the database connection string to point to your SlamCMS database
  2. Setup the site in your IIS:
    1. Add the website with the desired name pointing to the web application inside your solution directory
    2. Set the application pool to use .NET 4
    3. Check ASP.NET MVC 3 is installed on the server or bin deploy the ASP.NET MVC assemblies
    4. Enable Windows authentication (check next section)
    5. You're ready to GO!!

Enabling Windows Authentication

In order to use the included sample Intranet template, you'll need to enable Windows Authentication and disable Anonymous Authentication.

IIS 7
  1. Open IIS Manager and navigate to your website.
  2. In Features View, double-click Authentication.
  3. On the Authentication page, select Windows Authentication. If Windows Authentication is not an option, you'll need to make sure Windows Authentication is installed on the server. To enable Windows Authentication:
    1. In Control Panel open "Programs and Features".
    2. Select "Turn Windows features on or off".
    3. Navigate to Internet Information Services | World Wide Web Services | Security and make sure the Windows Authentication node is checked.
  4. In the Actions pane, click Enable to use Windows authentication.
  5. On the Authentication page, select Anonymous Authentication.
  6. In the Actions pane, click Disable to disable anonymous authentication.

IIS Express
  1. Right click on the project in Visual Studio and select Use IIS Express.
  2. Click on your project in the Solution Explorer to select the project.
  3. If the Properties pane is not open, make sure to open it (F4).
  4. In the Properties pane for your project:
    1. Set "Anonymous Authentication" to "Disabled".
    2. Set "Windows Authentication" to "Enabled".
